Contact your Legislators
The Virginia General Assembly will go into session on January 9 and legislators need to hear about the impact that tolling I-95 will have on the Commonwealth. Tolling I-95 is the most inefficient way to generate revenue for transportation and it will have a devastating impact on diversion, public safety and Virginia’s business-friendly reputation. If you are unsure who your legislator is CLICK HERE to find out. Send an email to both your Delegate and Senator and express your opposition to tolling I-95.
Contact the Governor
We need to let the Governor know the impact that tolling I-95 will have on citizens throughout Virginia. Please take the time to write the Governor regarding your concern with his administration’s proposal to toll I-95. The Governor makes the final decision on whether or not he wants tolls on I-95 to move forward, so he needs to hear loud and clear that Virginians do NOT support tolling I-95.
To email the Governor, visit his website or call him at (804) 786-2211.
Encourage Your Local Government to Pass a Resolution
Local governments across Virginia have rallied in opposition to tolls on I-95. Make sure that your county Board of Supervisors or local Town Council understands the implications that tolling I-95 will have on all Virginians. Request that they write a formal resolution in opposition to plans to toll I-95 and that it is sent to the Governor.
Tell Your Friends
Our success is going to be dependent upon how well we get our message out. You have the opportunity to make a real difference in this campaign by letting your friends know what is taking place. Your single signature on a petition or “like” on the Facebook page can turn into hundreds if you let your friends know and they do the same. The more people that we have working in opposition, the better our chances of keeping tolls off of I-95!
Write a Letter to the Editor
Write a letter to your local newspaper and tell them why you are opposed tolls on I-95. This is a great way to get our message out and let them know why tolling I-95 is a bad idea. The information found on our website under “Why Oppose?” can provide guidance when writing letters.
The newspaper’s website will have the contact information on how to send your letter to the editor.
